Family Cyber Alert Remote and Network Monitoring Setup Guide

Remote monitoring allows you to monitor other computers on the same network from your computer.

REQUIREMENTS

To proceed with remote monitoring setup, the followings are required:
  1. A family pack license (for up to 4 PCs).

  2. Install Family Cyber Alert (FCA) on each computer, including yours. Get the updates by going Tools->Live update in Family Cyber Alert. Make sure FCA runs well on each computer.

TWO CONFIGURATIONS

Choose a configuration for your remote monitoring:
  1. Central Logging. Usage data logged on each computer is sent to and stored on your computer.

    • Advantages: Safe keeping of the usage data since the data is stored on your computer; one report for all the computers.
    • Disadvantages: Your computer has to be on all the time in order to receive the logging data; usage data may be lost when the network connection is down.
  2. Distributed Logging. Usage data logged is kept and stored on each computer. You view the usage report of each computer from your computer. Advantages: Your computer does not need to be on all the time to receive the data; network problem does not affect usage data logging. Disadvantages: View one computer at one time.
Based on your needs, choose one configuration from the above.
